check the speaker wires in back - do they make contact? tighten them and clean the connections if necessary.

if you've checked all of the above and everything seems right...take the front cover off.

do the speaker components look ok from the outside? if not, the speaker is damaged and needs repair.

now, shake the speaker! yup. up and down, side to side. is anything rattling around inside? AH HAH! the magnet fell off of one of your speakers. time for the repair shop!

if you've checked all of the above and you can't find the problem, some component may have blown. could be the manufacturer installed underrated parts! time to repair or replace those speakers!

Many manufacturers have cut prices to be competitive and installed cheap parts that cannot handle the watts they claim. so, you crank the music and the electronic parts fail. the woofer or tweeter sound scratchy, there's distortion or the entire speaker is silent.

Worse than that, if you've already paid to repair your speakers and they continue to fail, the original design may be flawed. You may even continue throwing good cash after bad until you decide to replace your speakers with a higher quality, longer-lasting design.
